Investor Onboarding and Digital Transfer Agent provider Vertalo Connects and Enables the Digital Asset Securities Ecosystem through its API-first B2B SaaS platform
Austin TX, May 13th, 2021 — Vertalo, the digital transfer agent platform that connects and enables the digital asset securities ecosystem, announced the successful close of its Series A round of funding. This $5 million strategic round was raised from existing investors Shasta Ventures, SputnikATX, Quansight Initiate, and Hampstead Park Capital. New investors to the round also include Naples Technology Ventures, Tezos Foundation, Collab+Currency, CMT Digital, Wedbush Capital, Wedbush Ventures, and early investors in Coinbase who formed an SPV to complete the round. Vertalo clients DealBox, Wave Financial, and MountX Capital also participated in the round. Former Wedbush Equities Managing Director Sheri Kaiserman, and Gator Greenwill of Metis Capital will be joining the board of Vertalo parent SeriesX following the formal close of the round.
“The Vertalo team is proud to have the support of a wide range of investors and partners as we continue to develop and deliver tools and technologies that reduce systemic friction in private capital markets through the use of distributed ledger technology. While Vertalo is clearly benefiting from tailwinds in the digital asset and crypto markets, our focus on simplifying investor onboarding and facilitating secondary liquidity has found a strong buyer base among institutional players who license our platform to enter the business of digital asset management and tokenization. Vertalo is leading the charge to digitize and tokenize private assets and help our clients and partners create and access gigantic markets that are ripe for DLT-driven transformation.” Dave Hendricks, CEO and cofounder of Vertalo
During 2020 and the Covid-19 pandemic, Vertalo saw its strongest growth since its founding in 2018. With 6 quarters of sequential growth, and Q1 2021 SaaS bookings exceeding $1.5 million, Vertalo is well-positioned to lead the emerging market in investor onboarding and digital asset tokenization. In the face of this rapid growth, and during a period when most companies sent their workers home, Vertalo also increased their real estate footprint 3 times, increasing their Austin TX HQ office square footage more than 400% to accommodate a growing team of product builders and technical account managers. Vertalo continues to hire and expects to triple the size of its team 3x in 2021.
One such investor in Vertalo’s Series A is Naples Technology Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Naples, Florida. Co-founded by Mike Abbaei, a former fintech executive with Broadridge, Vertalo was introduced by Seed and Series A investors Sputnik ATX. “As an executive with decades of experience in developing and implementing next generation fintech solutions, I was immediately impressed with the scope of Vertalo’s vision, as well as the team’s sector-leading technology and ability to execute. Vertalo is paving the way for digitization and transformation of the fundamentals of the capital markets and beyond, and we see strong growth and acceptance in this arena. We at Naples Technology Ventures are very excited to be involved with Vertalo and support them through our network of traditional and digital investment partners.”
Resolute Capital Partners (RCP), a private equity placement firm specializing in real estate, technology, and energy projects has chosen Vertalo, an SEC-registered transfer agent that offers a white-label investor onboarding (Vertalo I/O) and digital asset data management platform, to re-engineer and redesign its existing issuers and investor onboarding processes previously built with commercial off-the-shelf software. RCP’s founder and CEO Tom Powell envisions a long-term relationship with Vertalo “As a growing PE placement firm, Resolute Capital Partners faces significant competition for investment in its projects. After an exhaustive analysis of available providers, we selected Vertalo to help us transform our investor onboarding process and digital transformation initiatives. Building RCP’s processes on top of Vertalo’s API-first platform will not only help us improve the entire investor experience, but will also future-proof RCP’s entire business as we seek to enter new markets including crowdfunding, offering distribution, as well as innovative digital product creation and marketing.”
Vertalo plans to use the proceeds from this round to hire more developers and technical account managers to execute against a technology roadmap and to satisfy existing and rapidly increasing client demand from around the world.
As global investors continue to seek new sources of yield, and public markets become increasingly optimized, previously illiquid private asset markets have drawn the attention of firms like Vertalo who have designed and implemented solutions that create new opportunities for both asset managers and their investors.
